World Party

The weekend is the time to relax and “let it out.”  That’s it.  Just as the lyrics say, “You feel it in your soul.  Scream and shout .”  This is the song that encourages you to do you.  Whether you are a wallflower or in the middle of the dance floor, you are a part of the action.

You look around, and everyone is moving to this groove like a well-oiled machine.  It has the undertones of steppers cut, but yet so much more.  There’s modern, commercial vibe to it.  At this point, DJ is the one in control, showing that “skill for real.”  Understand that “everyone’s got that feeling.”  It’s not just in you in your city.  People in all nations and languages are groovin’ to their music, doing their dance, with their people, in their clubs.

We live in a culture that promotes the action that takes place in the club.  With TV, internet, satellites, and all the technology in existence today, the world is on one accord.  It’s contagious.  It’s like a fever that has spread everywhere.  “Everybody’s got that fever.  Everybody everywhere.”  It’s the world party.

Mysterious One

Mysterious One

Camille4374

What is the definition of mysterious?  It is to be more than meets the eye.  It is what makes you wonder what something is really all about.  For those that have truly listened to the words of this song, this is what they have experienced.  It fools you.  It has all the elements of the pop, bubble gum type of sound that the music industry craves.  However, the verbiage is a direct contrast.

This song is the introduction of Camille G. Brown, which she doesn’t hesitate to state in the first few seconds of the song.   She is the mysterious one because she brings more to her music than what’s normally expected.   Her music, with this song in particular, brings the depth of life.

So let’s start at the first verse.   This is more than your average “musical eruption.”  This artist strives to rise above the sound that lacks musical integrity.   Although in the minority, many artists that have musicianship, a good ear, and appreciate an authentic good sound, strive to take the music industry back.  They rid the world of low quality sound and bring higher expectations for musical skill level back to music.  So the 2nd verse rings true.  “You are entering destruction of a music that is poison”- music that has poisoned us so much that we are immune to it.”

Just listen to the chorus.  This is a new artist, so of course you’re curious. But at the same time, take very serious the words she sings.  This is no lightweight.  Everyone is familiar with the idea of taking the red pill in The Matrix.  It’s the pill that reveals the harsh reality for what it is.  Most of us, brainwashed and immune to the lower standard of the new music industry, don’t want to open our minds back up to that higher standard of music.

Slow Down

Ladies, I now you can feel me on this song.  Guys are always always always trying to move too fast…with everything!  This song is the story of the average female just trying to protect herself from making a quick, wrong decision.  “I watched you stare at me closely.”  This is not just a one time thing.  This statement symbolizes her being in frequent contact with him, and he’s been scoping her out There’s no question that she is the prize he’s longed for.  She warns him that she’s not easy though.  How many of us have been hurt so bad that we are slow to jump into  another relationship?  It’s taxing.

Men love the chase though.  He continues to pursue her…”slowly talking to me won’t stop talking to me…“  She tries to convince herself otherwise, saying that this just “can’t be right” for her.  The chorus essentially is her releasing what her inner voice has been telling her all along. “Slow Down!”  Sometimes, you are scared to jump because bad results of past loves.  We all have it – baggage.  We try to not make the same mistakes twice.  Sometimes we hinder ourselves from being in a very good thing because of that fear.  All the guys she has met have said they are “so down” but turn out just to be players like the rest…always with that wandering eye.  How does she know he is different.

By the 2nd verse, he has got her really thinking.  “You give me a feeling, it’s thrilling!”  She thinks about what a shame it would be to actually lose out on a good thing.   It could be real love after all.  As she goes into the bridge, she is speechless.  Not only is she at a loss for words, but she is not sure which way to turn either.  On one hand, she does not want to be hurt, but also sees so much potential with him.  She sees a beautiful possibilities down a path with him.  The song ends with this conflict of the “good angel” and “bad angel”  of her inner conscience.  There are strong arguments on both side.  So what would you do?  Would you slow down…..or speed up?

Funky Melody

Funky Melody

Mmmm this song is sooo funky.  Can’t you hear it?  It blends that funky vibe from the 70s and the edge of hard rock.  You ever just have a melody in your head?  It just stays there until your mind decides to forget.  We all have been taken over by the power of a funky groove.  It makes you want to “move your feet”, and even bob your head when (like when you’re driving).  When you are on the dance floor, you find yourself losing control.  You’ll do move in ways you didn’t even expect to move simply because it feels so good.  Nothing wrong with letting the music take over.  It’s just what you do.

It’s simply irresistible.  Once the music takes over, you have no choice but to dance.  You “can’t sit down.”  No matter what age, everyone can appreciate a good tune.  Even my grandmother twists her hips and snaps her fingers.  And what would a song be without that one high notes, graced by a smooth guitar lick.

This song is all about the band.  They are showing you how they get down.  They are welcoming you to their territory – their territory of music.  It is as though they are giving you a tour.  They are taking you around, up, down…who cares?  Does it need to make sense?  It’s not every day you get to let your hair down or untie your tie and get in the groove.  Let loose.  Feel funky.

Love Definition

Love Definition

Is that song the perfectly named or what?  It precisely describes a variety of ingredients for the definition of love.  In spite of what she says in the first line of how love is so hard to describe, she goes on doing exactly that throughout the song.  Everyone can relate to your soul feeling a “glow” when you’re in love.  How magical!  That song grasps it.

Love is something that no one can truly touch, but it surely is something that affects every human being – there to make us all happy on days when we are both up and down, as the chorus describes.  It is undeniably something that everyone needs.  It’s all the beautiful feelings we yearn for, served up for us on that “secret dish” that comes from a place that no one knows.  But you know it when you get it!

This is uplifting, in the sense that it can stimulate your feelings, reminding all of us of the wonderful times we had while in love.  For many that are still in love right now, there is a sense of satisfaction that comes from know that you have that in your hands.  You have that indescribable, intangible, and sometimes elusive “thing” in your hands.

For some, love stays forever.  For some, it is only temporary.   Why is that?  Perhaps it’s the need of following along the lines of the bridge in the song.   When we are all “drugged” up by the person we love, we still have to look deeper and see inside them.  We have to see and appreciate them for all that they are.  Otherwise, love is just a fantasy.  Your relationship will be so shallow that you end up getting the icing on top with no cake.  Who doesn’t want to enjoy every bite?

I do have one question though.  What exactly is the color of light?

Horizons

Horizons

Everyone has dreams.  Everyone has goals.  However, so many of us end up not reaching them or even coming close.  It is because of the obstacles.  We all face them.  Where your destination is for life is determined by how you deal with obstacles.  So what should you do?  This song encourages everyone to stick it out because “success is not so elusive.”

First of all, listen to the first line of the song.  So many people have their hearts and hopes set in things that are trivial and materialistic.  If we can grasp a deeper understanding of life and what is actually feasible in it, it could be overall more fulfilling.  However, you have to identify your dreams in order to reach them.  It’s like there is a need for clarity.  The sooner you have that, the sooner you will be on the right track.  Although the song doesn’t point it out, it has everything to do with spiritual growth.

Secondly, we get so impatient with waiting for what we want.  Although it is common knowledge that nothing ever worth having comes overnight or without much struggle, we want everything right away.  Here’s the truth though – you must wait.  “It seems like forever,” but don’t let your passion fade.  Stay strong until the end.  It’s about finding what motivates you and focusing on that light at the end of the tunnel.

The chorus describes a series of situations, where you may give to people that don’t appreciate what you have given them.  You reach for answers, but they seem unreachable.  You take something that seems rightfully yours, but it slips through your hands.  You even love, but it seems that it was for nothing.

Life has ups and downs, but we can’t see it as the end.  We just have to take it one step at time and jump right over each hurdle that is placed in front of us.  The climax of the song is in the perfect place, near the end.  It explains how no obstacle is large to overcome.  No mountain is too high to climb.  So just keep trying.  Keep trying because your horizon is how you view the infinite possibilities in your life.

Strange Thing

Strange Thing

Ever been blown off by someone before?  Definitely not a good feeling, but this song so eloquently vents the hostile feelings resulting from being neglected.  We have all dealt with that.  For a while, typically a short time, you feel as though you are at the cusp of a perfect relationship.  You are living in a fantasy no doubt because the other person unexpectedly, to your heart’s dismay, disappears.  Just when they have got you hooked, they vanish!

Why do people do that?  It must be attributed to a series of insecurities and fears.  One that distinctly stands out is the fear of standing up to someone and just being straight with them, telling them how you feel, even if it’s bad news.  After all, everyone deserves that.  Someone giving you a significant amount of their time should know why you never want to see them again so suddenly.

It is certainly strange how some people will paint a picture of a beautiful future of life and then become completely indifferent with no explanation.  And don’t forget about those that will call you and talk a good game, but “can’t be seen.”  It’s all a scheme, just as the bridge describes.  It’s no doubt unintentional, but ends up being the result with so many would-be relationships.  That’s no excuse though.  It’s as though they never stop to think of someone else’s feelings.

This situation is something that happens with both sexes, time after time, generation after generation.  Yet no matter how many times it happens, it never quite feels natural.  Yeah, it’s definitely a strange thing.
